Version 2.0 of Integrated Development Environment
Version 2.0 of pRISM+ for pSOSystem is an integrated development environment. It provides expanded benefits in four key areas to manufacturers of
custom, networked embedded devices: increasing the speed of development; lowering the end cost of embedded devices; simplifying the management of embedded devices; and improving the manufacturers ability to upgrade and enhance fielded devices. The pRISM+ Editor is a fast-start editor that provides a simple, lightweight environment that can support tight design-edit-compile-debug cycles. The pSOSystem additions and improvements include an enhanced POSIX library for porting Unix-based applications to
pSOSystem, improved C++ support including the IOSTREAMS standard, and features such as mutex semaphores for additional capability in implementing mutual exclusion among tasks or device drivers. One key function of pRISM+ 2.0 is the pSOS+ Library Manager (pLM+), which provides the ability to deliver device enhancements through any standard connection mechanism, such as an Ethernet or Firewire port. Using the concept of Dynamic Link Libraries, pLM+ enables developers to dynamically replace or provide new
applications code to devices in the field. The IDE is expected to ship this month. Pricing for pRISM+ for pSOSystem v. 2. begins at $13,995 for the first developer seat.

Design and Analysis Software
RapidBuild v. 1.0 is real-time software for the implementation and execution of real-time design on target hardware. RapidBuild forms a closed-loop
design and analysis cycle, including functional design, timing data collection, and PERTS rate monotonic analysis. Utilizing RapidBuild, a designer can create sample code to collect timing data on a real-time system prior to the actual implementation of the application code. Working with the RapidBuild GUI, the developer can design multitasking, multithreaded real-time designs, including standard components such as tasks, semaphores, interrupt service routines, sockets, pipes, and data resources. A beta
version of RapidBuild v. 1.0 for Tornado VxWorks is available. It costs $3,000 per single-node license.

Web Microbrowser
Fusion WebPilot is an embedded Web microbrowser for specialized, embedded communication devices. Rather than building every possible feature into the browser, WebPilot offers a modular approach, allowing for size control and
speed. Modules include e-mail, image processing, and a windowing architecture. Application modules such as FTP and a file system are also available. Fusion WebPilot support HTML 3.2 with elements of HTML 4.0 and HTTP 1.0 and 1.1, with extensions to JavaScript and SSL. WebPilot is portable across all platforms and any OS environment. Fusion WebPilot is available now. Pricing and licensing fees vary.

Serial ROM Emulator
PromICE/Serial is an emulator for serial ROMs. It emulates all serial configuration ROMs for Altera and Xilinx FPGAs. PromICE/Serial eliminates the need to design in hardware features used only for development and can emulate multiple cascaded ROMs from a single socket in large FPGA designs. PromICE/Serial consists of a standard PromICE memory emulator and a
serial EPROM adapter called the unoROM, which can be purchased separately for use with an existing PromICE or as part of a complete PromICE/Serial system. Once FPGA configuration is complete, PromICE can be reused to emulate standard memory for firmware development, both for low-level hardware initialization and device drivers by the hardware engineers, and for firmware by the software engineers. PromICE/Serial ships with eight-pin DIP cables for 3V and 5V emulation. Its available immediately.
Prices for complete systems range from $1,495 to $1,995, depending on memory size.

JTAG Emulator for MIPS
The CodeTAP JTAG emulator for the MIPS architecture is a JTAG-specific debug solution in support of MIPS-based processor technology. It provides JTAG emulation and support of an embedded integrated development environment.
Initially, CodeTAP will be available for NECs 64-bit MIPS RISC VR5432 and VR5464 microprocessors. CodeTAP for MIPS architecture installs with a simple plug-in to the MIPS processor debug port. The target port supports both the N-wire and EJTAG enhanced IEEE JTAG real-time on-chip debugging standards. The emulator is equipped with Ethernet communication, offering both high-speed download and crash-proof run control. CodeTAP is available bundled with Metrowerks CodeWarrior IDE, and supports
Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT host systems. Its currently available for NECs VR5432 and VR5464 processors, and for additional processors in the first quarter of 1999. Pricing starts at $8,495.

ICE for Pentium II
The newest PowerPack in-circuit emulators now support the Pentium II processors up to 450MHz for software development, debug,
hardware integration, and board-level system debugging. The PowerPack SW Plus and PowerPack EA emulators provide a complete run control system, source-level debugging, software breakpoints, and hardware execution breakpoints. They support C++ source debug, and require no target memory resources, nor serial or Ethernet connections to the target. The emulators support standard 32-bit Intel object module formats, COFF, and Microsoft PE file formats.
