Software
RTOS simulation environment

ISIM is an advanced RTOS simulation environment for the Integrity real-time operating system. Initially available for PowerPC processors, ISIM enables designers to develop and test Integrity-based embedded applications on their PCs or workstations without requiring access to actual target hardware. It's a PowerPC instruction simulator that provides support for PowerPC systems running the Integrity RTOS, including virtual memory facilities, exception handling, and debugging across a LAN. ISIM runs on Windows 95/98/NT and Solaris 2.x host platforms. Unlike conventional RTOS simulators that run as native Unix or PC applications, ISIM simulates the RTOS using the same PowerPC code that runs on the target. ISIM is integrated with the MULTI debugger. It supports both freeze-mode and run-mode debugging. ISIM can simulate Integrity-based PowerPC applications on a Windows or Unix-based host system at a claimed speed of nearly 2 MIPS on a 550MHz Pentium III. ISIM is available for use with Integrity for $2,500 per user. The Integrity RTOS and libraries are bundled with the Multi Integrated Development Environment, a C/C++/EC++ compiler, a board support package, and royalty-free run-time target project license. The complete package costs $7,900 per user on a PC and $10,900 per user on a Unix system.

Interactive run-time tracing system

LiveCODE is an interactive run-time tracing system. It incorporates automated instrumentation technology, which allows users to interactively debug their software while the application runs in the target. With LiveCODE, developers can graphically display program execution at a high level to understand its operation, trace details in areas of interest, and insert code to diagnose problems, without recompiling or stopping the program. LiveCODE for PowerPC processors is available now starting at $4,000 in single-unit quantities. LiveCODE for the PowerPC/VxWorks environment is available for Windows 98/NT and Solaris host systems.

Plug-ins for Code Composer Studio and IDE

A set of Virtuoso plug-ins are now available for Texas Instruments' Code Composer Studio and Integrated Development Environment. The plug-ins allow both in-process and stand-alone versions of Virtuoso's single or multiprocessor RTOS applications to be developed, loaded, run, and served from within the CCS framework. Virtuoso's four-layer microkernel-based architecture provides code size as small as 2K to 3K instructions and delivers context switching as fast as 200ns on a 200MHz C6200. The Virtual Single Processor (VSP) programming model allows designers of multiprocessor systems to write application code for a single-processor system and then distribute the tasks across multiple processors without changing the code. The Netlink Driver Development kit allows designers to port the VSP model to TMS320C6000-based boards with multiple processors. Code Composer Studio supports the TMS329C6201 Evaluation Module, XDS-510 Emulator, and the 'C6000 Instruction Set Architecture Simulator with no run-time royalties. It's available now for Windows 95/98/NT PCs for $2,995. Virtuoso 4.1 is available now for $10,000 for single-processor targets and $20,000 for multi-processor targets. The Code Composer plug-ins are part of the standard product offering. Virtuoso applications require no run-time royalties.

PCI-based programming station for flash

FlashRiter is a PCI-based programming station for high speed, on-board programming of flash memory devices and in-system programming of CPLDs, FPGAs, and other programmable parts. It's based on the IEEE 1149.1 protocol. FlashRiter's boundary scan controller, ScanMaster, uses a proprietary Adaptive Clocking technology that eliminates the effects of the path delays, allowing the ScanMaster controller to be located at an ergonomically suitable distance to the target (typically 2m). In addition, a 32-bit PCI bus architecture and memory behind TDI and TDO provide a nonstop means for on-board programming at speeds up to 25Mbps. Flash Riter also includes TestRiter, a fully integrated boundary scan test program development and efficient vector delivery system. Using netlist and BSDl files, TestRiter automatically identifies boundary scan cells associate with each node. It then symbolically maps net names to corresponding scan cells for test program development and fault diagnostics. FlashRiter is available now starting at $16,775.
