Cosmic Software development tools now support Motorola's HC12 MCUs with code generation, automated bank switching, flash and EEPROM programming, and real-time target debugging. The standard features of Cosmic Software's development support for the 68HC12 include ZAP ICD, a background debug mode (BDM) debugger/flash programmer using P & E Microcomputer Systems' parallel interface Cable23; ZAP SDI, another BDM debugger/flash programmer, which uses Motorola's serial debug interface cable; ZAP SIM, a simulator debugger that provides instruction set simulation with optional bank switching; real-time execution with interrupts enabled; flash programming; hardware breakpoints supporting both instruction and full data; bank switching; run-time monitors and updates; multiple execution modes including hardware breakpoint mode for real-time flash debugging, BGND mode for debugging out of RAM, and Istep mode for when hardware breakpoints are not available; and automated testing, including a feature that allows engineers to record and play back a debugging session, as well as multiple file simulated I/O. Cosmic Software development tools for the HC12 are available now.
