Entrek TOOLBOX consists of two professional software development tools needed for debugging and fine tuning Windows CE applications. Included in the TOOLBOX are CodeSnitch and Procman.
CodeSnitch is a runtime error detection tool that detects software defects such as memory leaks and heap corruption. No special build of the target application is necessary. As the program runs, CodeSnitch reports errors such as invalid parameters being passed to a system API or failed APIs. At the end of the program run, CodeSnitch reports memory leaks. Each error is located to the exact file and line number in the source code.
Procman allows developers to browse, monitor, and manage their Windows CE device. The system hierarchy of processes, threads, windows, and threads can be viewed with key statistics given for each object. Important system and process information such as CPU and memory usage can be monitored to aid in determining inefficiencies. Further, Procman gives the ability to change to certain information for each object. For example, application performance can be tuned by changing thread priorities and quantums.
