In “Memory Management for Multimedia QoS in in Resource Constrained Embedded Systems,” Mike Holenderski, Chidiebere Okwudire, Reinder J. Bril, and Johan J. Lukkien at the Eindhoven University of Technology, address such problems temporal dependencies between subchains of tasks in embedded systems.

They describe how the use of advanced memory management techniques such as providing additional access to buffers and the use of in-buffer scaling can be used to prevent congestion in one buffer from propagating across the whole application.
