Integrated OrCAD-Microsim Product Line with Interchange Architecture Optimized for Team-Based Design

Beaverton, Ore.--Nov. 9, 1998--OrCAD (Beaverton) announced Release 9 of its entire line of desktop EDAapplications. The new, integrated product line is an outcome of the January, 1998 mergerof OrCAD and Microsim Corp.

The Release 9 product line features selected OrCAD and Microsim products, integrated via the new OrCAD Interchange Architecturer. AllRelease 9 products have been enhanced, including:

• OrCAD Capture
  
• OrCAD Capture CIS
  
• OrCAD PSpice and OrCAD PSpice A/D
  
• OrCAD Express
  
• OrCAD Layout Plus, OrCAD Layout, and OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition (previously announced)

In addition, new OrCAD Express Plus, featuring timing-driven synthesis and support for high capacity and ASIC replacement devices hasbeen added to the product line.

The new OrCAD Interchange Architecture features OrCAD Capture as the single interface and database for project management and designentry. The well-known OrCAD Capture user interface connects engineers to a choiceof products for component information management; mixed schematic/VHDL FPGA and CPLD design, simulation, and synthesis; analog/mixed-signal design; and PCB layout.

OrCAD Layout Plus, OrCAD Layout, and OrCAD Layout Engineer's Edition areavailable now worldwide. Other Release 9 products are currently in betarelease and are expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 1998.
