Troy Group licences Bluetooth solution to Axsys Automation

June 15, 2001

Troy Group has announced that its Wireless and Connectivity Division has licensed its Bluetooth protocol stack software to Axsys Automation, a manufacturer of industrial automation solutions

This announcement comes hard on the heels of Troy's protocol stack gaining Bluetooth 1.1 qualification, announced just a day earlier.

Axsys plans to use the protocol stack as the basis for a new Bluetooth wireless distributed control product.

"The Axsys agreement is an important milestone for us, because it allows us to penetrate the industrial automation and LONWORKS markets with our Bluetooth wireless technology," said Patrick J Dirk, chairman and CEO of Troy. "It also demonstrates our ability to be successful outside of the printer market, which has traditionally accounted for the majority of our wireless business."

"We are pleased to be working with Troy," said Brad R Carey, president of Axsys Automation. "Troy's Bluetooth stack is designed specifically for embedded devices, so it is ideal for our new product. We have also been very impressed with Troy's support capabilities, and we look forward to a long and successful relationship."
