UBM Electronics, the publisher of EE Times, has set up an initiative to highlight Apps, especially those of interest to electronics engineers and which run on Android or iOS tablets and Smartphone's.

The company says  it is seeing a rising interest in open source software (especially Android) by engineers with both ESC Boston (September 26-29, 2011) and ARM TechCon offering Android training and certification.

At ARM TechCon this year All-Access conference pass holders will receive a free Viewsonic Android G-Tablet with Apps and Conference papers pre-loaded.

Any person or company can submit an App and they will be posted on the Embedded.com site and promoted across the EETimes.com, EDN.com, DesignNews.com, EBNOnline.com and Datasheets.com sites.

At ARM TechCon 2011 (October 25-27, 2011 in Santa Clara) we will announce an Editor's choice and Readers choice engineering app of the year.

ARM TechCon Technical Program Director, Colin Holland, is writing a series of blogs reporting on his experience as first time user of an Android tablet and is also looking for suggestions of apps that would be useful to engineers and your experience with these apps. For more information see The Android Adventure.

For information on how to submit apps see the ARM TechCon website.
