Converters reduce power dissipation by 40%

Maxim’s MAX17572 and MAX17574 DC/DC converters deliver up to 1 A and 3 A, respectively, while reducing power dissipation by 40%. These synchronous step-down converters operate over an input voltage range of 4.5 V to 60 V and enable rapid compliance with the IEC 61508 safety standard for use in high-voltage industrial applications.

Both the MAX17572 and MAX17574 employ a peak-current-mode control architecture and achieve >90% efficiency across 50% to 100% of the load current. Integrated MOSFETs and compensation help shrink solution size by as much as 50%, according to the manufacturer. Internal compensation addresses any output voltage and switching frequency combination without compromising bandwidth.
