DAC integrates buck/boost converter for single-rail supply operation
The DAC8775 16-bit DAC from Texas Instruments operates from a single 12-V to 36-V power rail, while an integrated buck/boost converter generates all of the required internal power supplies. By combining a 4–20-mA current and voltage driver with a precision reference and buck/boost converter, the programmable four-channel DAC8775 enables a total system footprint that is up to 25% smaller than the nearest competing device, according to TI.
To ensure reliable operation, the DAC8775 offers on-chip diagnostic features, including smart alarms that monitor open load, short circuit, overtemperature, cyclic redundancy check, watchdog timer, and compliance voltage.
