More than 1,547 electronics technology industry professionals attended CMP Technology's inagural Embedded Systems Conference India, which ran 4-6 October, 2007 at the Nihmans Convention Center in Bangalore. With its unmatched opportunities for training, innovation and networking, the inauguration function was attended by key dignitaries - Dr. Debesh Das - Minister for IT, Government of West Bengal, Mr. M N Vidyashankar, Secretary - Government of Karnataka, Ms. Poornima Shenoy - President, India Semiconductor Association, Richard Wallace, Vice-President, Group Editorial Director, CMP Technology's Electronics Group, and Mr Pradeep Kar, member , UBM Board.
Most who attended agreed that India is rapidly emerging in the world of embedded systems as consumers, suppliers and designers. ESC brings together the design engineers and system architects in India with the domains that they are working on - such as medical services, entertainment, industrial automation, communications - and gives them the opportunity to get exposed to the technology and learning from others of their community. The Technical Program was conducted by Indian and foreign experts from leading research and design facilities. The workshops and seminars provided attendee's access to leading vendors and live product demonstrations, gaining valuable insight into the most cutting edge technologies. Speakers like Jack Ganssle, David Kalinsky amongst others were a great attraction for the ESC classes.
ESC India provides local design engineers and software developers access to critical, high quality, and unbiased engineering, design and technical information. According to the Indian Semiconductor Association, design starts in India are growing in both the number and complexity - from 280 in 2005 to a projected 2,173 in 2015, a CAGR of 20%. And semiconductor sales in India are forecasted to grow from $2.82 Billion in 2005 to $36.3 Billion by 2015 - a CAGR of 29.8%.
