RF ICs: Amimon chipset delivers wireless, uncompressed HDTV

Wireless Net DesignLine
AMIMON's Wireless High-definition Interface (WHDI) chipset enables CE display and device manufacturers to develop home entertainment products that transmit uncompressed HD video wirelessly at 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions.

The AMN2110 baseband transmitter and the AMN2210 baseband receiver are available now along with reference designs. CE manufacturers Loewe and Funai will demonstrate wireless HDTVs based on AMIMON's technology at the IFA Consumer Electronics tradeshow in Berlin, next week.

WHDI allows products to share HD content throughout the entire home, up to 30 meters (100 feet) through walls, while maintaining wire-equivalent quality and robustness with no latency.

Systems operate in the 5-GHz unlicensed band, in compliance with FCC regulations.

The chips can be embedded into LCD and plasma HDTVs, multimedia projectors, A/V receivers, DVD players, set-top boxes (STBs), game consoles, PCs and HD video accessories (wireless for HDMI dongles), allowing wireless streaming of uncompressed HD video and audio.
