CPUs: PMC-Sierra licenses more MIPS cores

EE Times
MANHASSET, NY — MIPS Technologies said it has licensed additional processor cores to long-time licensee PMC-Sierra for use in next-generation communications and storage products.

Among the MIPS32 processor technologies to be licensed by PMC-Sierra are the 1004K core, MIPS32 74KcT, 34KcT, 24KcT Pro cores, the 4KEmT Pro core and the SOC-it L2 cache controller.

The MIPS cores enable SoC designers to write their own instruction set extensions to create differentiated products. Using standard tools and software, designers then implement instruction extensions to increase performance, reduce power consumption and implement operations.

PMC-Sierra provides broadband communications and storage semiconductors for network infrastructures.
