Taipei, Taiwan – CEVA and TES Electronic Solutions (TES) today announced a partnership to enable 2D/3D graphics applications on CEVA's MM2000 portable multimedia solution using TES's eVRU (embedded Vector Rendering Unit) technology. eVRU is an OpenGL ES 1.1 vector rendering library developed specifically for DSPs. A demo of eVRU is shown below.
The MM2000 platform supports a wide range of audio and video formats, including H.264, VC-1, RMVB, and DivX at up to D1 resolution. Because the platform is based on the programmable CEVA-X DSP core, it can also support functions such as cellular baseband, GPS, DVB-H and Bluetooth.
eVRU leverages the CEVA-X DSP core inside the MM2000 platform. Thus, eVRU is able to provide 2D/3D graphics without any additional accelerators or dedicated hardware. The engine targets portable devices including cellular handsets, portable media players (PMP), portable navigation devices (PND) and digital cameras.
