8- and 16-bit Microcontrollers

The PIC18CX58 family is a series of microcontrollers for 8- and 16-bit applications. The 68-pin PIC18C658 and the 84-pin PIC18C858 offer 16Kwords of OTP program memory and 1,536 bytes of user RAM. Both chips feature a CAN active peripheral interface, a 10 MIPS CPU, and 32KB program memory. These features enable control algorithms and network interfaces to be executed on the same microcontroller. The CAN interface contains a double-buffered receiver with two priority levels, six acceptance filters, and two acceptance masks. Other CAN interface features include programmable wakeup, an integrated low-pass filter, a programmable loop-back mode, a programmable baud rate clock source, and a programmable link-to-time module for time-stamping and network synchronization. The PIC18C658 and PIC18C858 contain three 16-bit timers, one 8-bit timer, a watchdog timer, and 52 and 68 I/O bi-directional ports. Both chips are available now. The PIC18C658 costs $7.35. The PIC18C658 costs $8.08.

Communication DSP

The 200MHz ARM966E-S is targeted toward communication applications that require deterministic control and digital signal processing capabilities. Its code size fits into coupled instruction memory. The ARM966E-S uses the Thumb instruction set and supports the AMBA v. 2.0 AHB bus specification. It*s available now on G12 0.19 micron drawn CMOS technology.
