Graphics generator

DeepScreen v. 1.0 generates C code for graphical interfaces, producing a graphics framework as well as drawing and rendering commands. It handles code for static, moving, and animated display graphics. DeepScreen is designed to be used in conjunction with Design v. 4.5, a graphics design environment in which engineers develop prototype interface components, such as knobs, buttons, and screen graphics. The prototypes are then run through DeepScreen to generate graphics code for the target system. Deep Screen is available now for $25,000.

Graphics servers

The eBSD operating system now includes Metro-X, a graphical display server for host development, and a demo of Micro-X. Developers can use the demo of Micro-X to simulate the X server running on Internet appliances such as set-top boxes, webpads, or residential gateways. Micro-X can be configured according to the user's requirements, with a minimum memory footprint of 570KB. Micro-X enables Internet applications to display embedded 2D and 3D graphics, video-in-a-window, and MPEG playback.

Internet platform

The Micro WebTarget Starter Kit is a network-enabled target platform with hardware and software for designing Internet devices, such as wireless PDAs, remote data-logging equipment, and interactive home appliances. It features a TCP/IP stack and protocol manager, HynetOS (a network operating system), and device drivers for various hardware interfaces. The Starter Kit also provides a plug-in base board to add two hardware expansion ports, a serial debug port, and an RJ-45 connector for the Micro WebTarget built-in Ethernet interface. In addition, the kit offers several optional software modules. It can operate as a web server, an automated e-mail client, a dial-up client, or as an embedded Java platform. The Starter Kit's set of PC-based development tools communicate with the target system via Ethernet. It has 4MB of DRAM and 1MB of flash memory. The Starter Kit is based on a Hyperstone processor platform which combines a 32-bit RISC processor with a 16- or 32-bit DSP unit in one core. It's available now for $2,295.

Card for remote design

When attached to the Ethernet and a Rabbit processor-based system, the RabbitLink card allows users to compile, run, and debug programs on a remote system from a network-connected PC running Dynamic C v. 7.02 or later. The RabbitLink card features a 22.118MHz Rabbit 2000 processor with 10baseT Ethernet interface, 512KB flash, and 128KB SRAM. A static HTML web server and SMTP client are also included, allowing Ethernet feedback from any programmable embedded system with a serial port. The card is available now for $129.

Library for network processor

The Microcode Solutions Library provides a standard interface that allows any operating system running on the Intel IXP 1200 network processor to utilize a collection of microcode implementations. The Library's StrongARM core interface manages the queues and memory map that establish the data and control interface between the core processor and the microcode engines. It also features an IX Bus interface, which communicates configuration code between the microcode packet processing environment and the external silicon. The Microcode Solutions Library supports ATM adaptation layers AAL1, AAL2, and AAL4.

Software platform

PERC v. 3.1 is a suite of development tools and run-time modules built on a clean-room implementation of a Java Virtual Machine. With PERC, developers can debug compiled code at the Java source level with any mix of interpreted or compiled code, which, according to the company, gives developers the ability to create Java code using the same methodology they traditionally use with C. PERC features the PERCCompactor, which analyzes Java applications and automatically removes unused code. It supports the Java native interface (JNI) and a number of Java class libraries, which include remote method invocation, Java beans, and Java database connectivity, as well as third-party Java libraries for database, such as SNMP and CORBA capabilities. PERC is available now.
