The Xpert family of hardware/software co-verification products enables system designers to debug system software before hardware prototypes are available. The family offers software debugging with accelerated register transfer-level (RTL) processor models, instant tracing of software code execution from any point in time, and instant resumption of software execution. For debugging with RTL models, Xpert uses a single-process architecture with a direct connection between the hardware and software verification environments. This offers design visibility that includes access to the processor's internal registers, without any performance overhead. With Xpert's instant trace capability, designers can go back to any point in software execution, after simulation of emulation has been completed, and trace the execution order of their code. The instant resume feature enables designers to go to any point in software execution time, view or change the memory contents, and continue running.
