Bluetooth interconnect to HID standard

Embedded.com
STMicroelectronics has developed a solution for keyboards and other input devices using the Human Interface Device (HID) standard. This allows them to automatically detect and connect to PDAs, PCs, set-top boxes, and cellular platforms.

The combination of ST's STLC2150 Bluetooth RF transceiver and STLC2410 baseband along with Bluetooth HID profile software, the solution is for use in mobile keyboards, mice and gamepads that can be used for any data-entry application to multiple platforms. A reference design is available,.

Traditional wireless keyboards use proprietary protocols at both the keyboard and PC, providing point-to-point applications between paired devices. A Bluetooth HID keyboard can interact with any other Bluetooth-HID system enabling a single standard keyboard for multiple applications.
