The Trace32 debugger from Lauterbach has added support for the Infineon's latest architecture, the S-Gold. The S-Gold chipset was developed specifically for third generation phones. It has an ARM926 core and two OAK DSPs on one chip. The Trace-32 Power Tools can access these cores by means of a JTAG interface and control them individually or in multi-core mode. Lauterbach's C/C++ debugging system can connect via parallel, USB, or Ethernet using any standard PC host, laptop, or workstation.

Using the PowerTrace Ethernet, it is possible to trace the program and dataflow of the ARM926 core in real time via the ETM trace port. The trace memory can record 64 megaframes at speeds up to 200MHz. Each trace record is time stamped to an accuracy of 25ns.

Support is provided for unlimited software breakpoints and use of the on-chip break logic and batch processing. The tool provides access to the on-chip SRAM and various buses as well. A context tracking system allows reconstruction of the contents of local variables. Other features include performance analysis, code coverage, statistics functions, time diagrams of the trace data, and RTOS support.
