Windows CE .NET 4.2 combines Microsoft's most advanced real-time operating system with tools for creating connected and small-footprint devices. Targeted at developers of set-top boxes, residential gateways, and voice-over-IP (VoIP) devices, the operating system incorporates new features including a faster compression engine, flexible cache flushing, and support for Internet Protocol Firewall, the Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol, and IPsec. The system's VoIP capabilities include Telephony User Interface and infrastructure services. Windows CE .NET 4.2 also features Internet Explorer 6 for Windows CE and Windows Media 9 series codecs.
