    • Heliatek is claiming greater than 10 percent efficiency. And this compares with 20 percent efficiency in silicon PV. However the nature of the way efficiency is measured at 25 degress C and the low light and high temperature efficiencies of the technologies make direct comparison difficult. My understanding is that organic PV is never lower than its stated efficiency and is often higher, while silicon PV efficiency is often much lower than its stated efficiency. And OPV can be much lighter.

    • There is a market for ARM multicores plus graphics and there are many, many examples with PowerVR, with Mali and with proprietary graphics. I think about 90 percent of the application processors in smartphones are ARM core plus graphics on a single chip.

    • I understand that Microsoft is controlling where the Windows 8 operating system can be used, by who and for what, so that the Windows 8 operating system will only be allowed to run on ARM-based processors in a very specific way for tablet computers from a limited number of OEMs. As such Windows 8 will not be allowed to run on ARM-based processors in notebook computers. So that would provide some protection for Intel...for a little while longer.

    • At least one person got it. :D

    • Presumably moody HeathKit is in love with the high-spirited Cathode?

    • A lot of people thought the C-to-silicon idea died with Celoxica, formerly Embedded Solutions Limited (ESL) out of Oxford University's Computing Laboratory. That research is approaching is approaching 20 years old and did target Xilinx FPGAs. Interestingly Xilinx's acquisition of Sino-Californian company AutoESL would seem to demonstrate that the idea is still alive and kicking. Ivo Bolsens, CTO of Xilinx, talks about why things may be different this time around in the February edition of EE Times Confidential http://www.eetimes.com/confidential
