14-bit, 170-Msample/s ADC suits wideband signal-processing apps

Extending its family of high-speed data converters, Texas Instruments announced a 14-bit, 170-Msample/second analog-to-digital converter. The ADS5545 offers 72 dBFS signal-to-noise ratio and 84 dBc spurious-free dynamic range at an input frequency of 150 MHz. This provides the capabilities needed for communications, instrumentation, test and measurement, medical, and video and imaging applications.

The device includes an internal sample and hold, low-jitter clock buffer, internal reference, and options for parallel CMOS or LVDS outputs. It operates from a single 3.3-V supply and is specified over the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85°C.

The ADS5545 is sampling now, with volume production scheduled for the second quarter of next year. The device comes in a 48-pin, 7- by 7-mm QFN package and is priced at $62.50 in 1000 piece quantities. Evaluation modules are also available. For more information, visit www.ti.com/dataconverter.
