Freescale Semiconductor recently unveiled a 3G single-core modem processor, at the heart of the MXC300-30 platform, based on its Mobile eXtreme Convergence (MXC) architecture. This single platform can equip an array of products, including MP3 players, handheld DVD players, or digital cameras, to become fully functional smart mobile cellular devices.
The MXC’s shared memory approach and built-in hardware accelerators result in a lower power consumption compared to traditional architectures. Innovative packaging techniques put the architecture in the size of a postage stamp. And the flexibility of the design results in a reduced development time.
