Abacus trio strengthen management team

LONDON — Abacus Group has strengthened its organisational structure by promoting three of its executives to Group-wide, pan-European roles. The move sees Jeremy Wood become Director of Operations, Paul Heafey become Director of Logistics and Greg Nicol become Director of Inventory Management.

Martin Kent, Chief Executive of Abacus Group, SAID, “Our goal is to spread best practice across our expanding organisation. All three of these individuals have an outstanding track record at Abacus, and are equipped to deliver the infrastructure that the Group needs to grow further. Their brief is to scale our logistics, back office and inventory as our business develops, allowing our front-line sales and marketing teams throughout Europe to continue to focus on their customers.”

In his new role as Director of Operations, Wood takes responsibility for all back-office infrastructure, including the enhancements needed in IT systems, as well as system processes legal and contractual obligations and regulatory compliance. A particular responsibility is staff training in these processes and other areas. He has over twenty years in electronic component distribution, including 14 years at Abacus.

Heafey becomes Director of Logistics and will look at warehousing and transportation on a Europe-wide basis, with the aim to making each warehouse a centre of excellence. He has spent six years with Abacus, leading the team that designed and opened Abacus Group’s Distribution Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He has 24 years experience in logistics in the electronics and chemical industries.

As Director of Inventory, Nicol will take charge of the management of inventory levels throughout the Group, and look at related issues such as RoHS compliance. He will use his Europe-wide brief to try to identify cost-savings and synergies across the Group. Nicol has over twenty years of purchasing experience in the electronic component distribution business.
