The controller, designed for robust use in the temperature range from -40 to +85°C, can be used both as an IIoT gateway and as an embedded platform for local controllers. The industry standards supported by the MXE-210 include Modbus, EtherCAT, DDS, MQTT and CANOpen by Vortex Edge Connect, as well as Wi-Fi, BT, LoRa (Long Range Wide Area Network), 3G and 4G LTE for the various wireless communication technologies. LoRa is a wireless network protocol geared to top energy efficiency and energy-savings developed specifically for communication in the Internet of Things.
The MXE-210 stands for a series of models with different basic equipment with regard to CPU, memory and optional features. All models have a fanless and at the same time exceptionally compact casing with the dimensions 140 x 58 x 110 mm, in accordance with industry requirements. Its robust construction allows use in harsh environments and includes vibration resistance up to 5 Grms, impact resistance up to 100 G, and the extreme operating temperature range from -40 up to +85 °C. The operating systems Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64Bit and Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS 64 bit are supported.
Respectively two LAN 10/100MbE interfaces, COM ports (RS-232, RS-232/422/485), USB 2.0 hosts and Mini-PCIe slots are available for further classical data exchange. A USIM socket is available for the installation of the wireless modules. Moreover, all models in the series offer certified EMI/EMS stability for extreme operating conditions in accordance with EN 61000-6-4/2. Due to their conformity with EN 50155, the controllers are approved for use in all types of rail vehicles.
