Agilent Technologies Inc. has been awarded a $1.8 million contract by the U.S. Navy. to supply handheld spectrum analyzers (HSAs) for five years to help the Navy's technicians install, monitor and maintain RF electronic systems in the field.  Agilent will provide the Navy with the N9342CN and N9342CNTG HSA instruments, two special versions of its 7-GHz N9342C HSA, specifically tailored to meet Navy requirements.  The design of Agilent’s HSA enables users to make measurements in tough field environments, while the performance ensures they can make the high quality RF measurements necessary to discover small signals and capture intermittent interferences. Field test automation allows users to cut test setup time by up to 95 percent.  “The U.S. Navy contract signals a breakthrough in the highly competitive, radio-frequency handheld spectrum analyzer market,” said Guy Sene, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Microwave and Communications Division.
