Cambridge, UK Set-top box (STB) vendor Amino has appointed a US distributor, Advanced Media Technologies (AMT), a Florida based cable television, broadcast satellite and telecom equipment distributor. The move is part of Amino's effort to expand its presence in North America's triple-play Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) market.
AMT is a distributor of broadband products, specialising in turnkey head-end and end-to-end solutions for video and data over broadband, RF, fiber and IP. Its customers are mainly US-based telecom and CATV companies. AMT will hold Amino stock in the US and will also provide warranty and first line technical support to its Amino customers.
IPTV enables interactive TV and video-on-demand (VoD) movies to be delivered over broadband telephone networks. Using Amino's set-top boxes, subscribers can watch digital-quality television and access a wider selection of interactive services.
The AmiNET110 embedded video decoder includes post-processing filters that yield improved quality at low bit rates, enabling network operators to offer broadcast quality television services to multiple TV sets over a single ADSL.
