Apple buying CDMA chips; AT&T readying for impact

The great “end of iPhone exclusivity” moment seems to be coming at long last to the U.S. wireless industry. For its part, Apple appears to be taking large shipments of CDMA chips, which would be required to build an iPhone that runs on AT&T competitor Verizon’s network. Meanwhile, AT&T itself seems to be recognizing this new reality as well in a recent SEC 10Q filing that downplays the material impact on it by the loss of iPhone exclusivity.
