LONDON Processor intellectual property licensor ARM Holdings plc (Cambridge, England) has said that it has 2D vector graphics software available for licensing with its Mali55 and Mali200 graphics processors.
Three software modules are joining a previously available module to form a graphics stack that meets “all the standards for advanced graphics required by manufacturers of mobile handsets, portable media players and navigation devices,” ARM said.
However one of the modules, the Mali-JSR287 software, is not due to become available until the JSR287 standard is ratified, expected by the end of 2008.
Ericsson Mobile Platforms is the lead partner for the software, licensed as part of the Mali graphics stack for use with the Mali200 hardware in their U500 phone.
ARM did not say how much the software costs to license, or what sort of deal it likes to make.
