Stellar MCUs from STMicrolectronics pack on-chip nonvolatile memory for real-time, multi-core performance in automotive domain architectures. They also provide connectivity and security features to support the transition to service-oriented domain controllers for automotive drivetrain, chassis, and advanced driver assistance systems.
Fabricated using 28-nm FD-SOI technology, Stellar microcontrollers integrate more than 40 Mbytes of phase-change memory capable of data retention up to 165°C and multiple ARM Cortex-R52 cores operating at frequencies of up to 600 MHz. Devices leverage Evita Full-compliant hardware security modules and a wide set of automotive interfaces, including Ethernet, CAN-FD, and LIN. Further, Stellar MCUs satisfy ISO26262 ASIL-D safety qualification by extending the Cortex-R52 cores with lockstep capabilities.
ST is now sampling the first Stellar microcontrollers, outfitted with six ARM Cortex-R52 cores clocked at 400 MHz, 16 Mbytes of phase-change memory, and 8 Mbytes of RAM in BGA516 packages.
