LONDON German connector company, Franz Binder GmbH, has formed a U.K. subsidiary company that will be based in Hemel Hempstead.
The investment in a 4500 sq ft office and warehouse facility follows the successful foundation of subsidiaries in China, U.S. and last year in France.
Managing director of the new company is David Phillips, who was formerly U.K. sales and marketing director at Binder’s primary U.K. distributor, Quadrant Connections Ltd.
“The new company will be working alongside our existing, highly successful distribution channel led by Quadrant Connections, RS Components and Farnell,” said Phillips. “Our primary objective is to establish closer relationships with key customers such as major OEMs for design-in and customer-specific applications, a strategy that has proved highly successful in other countries where Binder subsidiaries have been formed. In terms of both market size and performance the UK is second only to Germany for Binder products in the EU, but sales represent only 5 percent of Germany and therefore there is significant opportunity for growth.”
Binder GmbH (Tuttlingen, Germany) is a family owned group of companies with a turnover of €117million employing 1149 people. Franz Binder GmbH, the connector company, is based in Neckarsulm and manufactures plastic and metal circular connectors for the instrumentation, sensors, automation, medical and industrial equipment markets.
Products range from the world’s smallest sensor connector (M5) up to connectors with 24 contacts. Locking mechanisms include screw, bayonet, snap-in and push-pull types and connectors are available with environmental ratings from IP40 to IP68.
