Birdstep to acquire to expand mobility solutions

LONDON — Birdstep Technology ASA is to acquire mobility software company Aramova Inc. in a move said to imrpove its position as a seamless connectivity and mobility client software provider.

Birdstep (Oslo, Norway) also hopes the move will strengthen its relationships with European operators like the KPN Netherlands, E-plus Germany and Neuf Cegetel France. The acquisition should also improve its U.S. presence by adding Aramova's (San Francisco, CA) client software development organization in San Francisco, California and new product lines that will expand and compliment its wireless product portfolio.

Birdstep has three wholly owned subsidiaries, Birdstep AB in Sweden, Birdstep Technology Inc. in Seattle, and Birdstep Technology Ltd in Cambridge, U.K.

It provides seamless connectivity and mobility client software for mobile data users on laptops, pocket PC and smartphones as well as embedded database technologies.

Aramova delivers internet mobility for connecting across multiple access networks by abstracting the complexities associated with connecting to and remotely managing heterogeneous networks. It has a European office in Norwich, England.
