LONDON A series of regional seminars for small and medium sized businesses aims to ensure they are aware, and make use of, the methods of protecting their intellectual assets.
The campaign is being run by the Patent Office with the help and support of the (CIPA) and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA). In addition to a free half-day awareness seminar all organisations registering are entered into a draw to win a free one-hour consultation with a patent attorney or trade mark attorney in their region.
The first of these seminars was at Oxford Science Park was organised by Business Link and attracted almost 200 participants. Because of the numbers of organisations registering for this event, it had to be split into separate morning and afternoon seminars.
Events currently planned include a West Midlands seminar, at Coventry University on October 1; Northern seminar, at the Technical Innovation Centre, Bolton on October 14; East Midlands seminar, at Derby Pride Park on October 15, Yorkshire seminar at York Science Park on October 26 and a North East seminar, in Newcastle, on November 12.
