Towcester, UK Radstone Technology is expanding the embedded technologies that it can supply to its defence and aerospace customer base with the acquisition of Ottawa-based Interactive Circuits and Systems.
ICS is a privately held company which designs and manufactures real-time data acquisition products used in high-end embedded DSP applications such as radar, communications and sonar, together with instrumentation and testing. The company is also active in the design of products for software defined radio.
Peter Cavill, managing director of Radstone, said, “The applications expertise which ICS has in DSP and software radio will significantly strengthen Radstone's ability to offer system solutions to customers in the radar, sonar, communications and signal intelligence markets.”
The deal will enable the ICS data conversion technology to be combined with Radstone's processor products for use in severe environment applications.
Dr. Dipak Roy, ICS co-founder, major shareholder and president will remain with the enlarged group as president of ICS following the acquisition. The acquisition is expected to complete in early September 2003.
ICS was set up in1980 and include subsidiaries SensorCom Inc. in Annapolis, Maryland and DaqScribe Technology Inc. in Englewood, Colorado.
