NAND flash memory is built up of many cells that hold bits, and those bits are either turned on or off through an electric charge. As the levels of voltage increase, error, bad block and misjudge are more likely to occur, furthermore to cause incomplete data loss. Therefore, the data retention and reliability will decrease from SLC to MLC to TLC.
At present, industrial customers still willing to pay a little more cost to choose SLC and MLC products due to the stable data retention and reliability. Especially, MLC products not only have cost-effective beneficence, multiple form factor designed, available from 4GB to 2TB capacity which is suitable for various industrial applications.
