Conference to examine semiconductor strategies


Edinburgh, UK — The UK's Semiconductor 2004 conference in June is to take a look at Far East opportunities including the implications of China's fast-growing and heavily subsidised semiconductor sector.

Security in Silicon and new business opportunities in compound semiconductors will also be among the key topics for discussion when 250 decision makers from the European semiconductor industry meet at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Edinburgh on 17 and 18 June.

Organised by JEMI UK to address the technological and commercial challenges facing the industry and in its fifth year, the conference speakers Colin Whitehouse, Director of Engineering at multidisciplinary research organisation, CCLRC, Dr Ian Underwood, a world authority on microdisplay technology, and Malcolm Penn, CEO of market research organisation, Future Horizons.

Also addressing the conference will be Chris Shire, business development manager, Infineon Technologies UK; Dr André Hawryliw, managing director, Compugraphics International; George Pollock of IDC; John Docherty of Agere Systems, and Jean-Christophe Eloy, founder of Yole Developpement, which carries out market research and strategy consulting for the Mems and compound semiconductor fields.
