Developer platform delivers complete toolset for distributed systems

Santa Clara, Calif. — Real Time Innovations (RTI) has announced that its development tools suite for distributed real-time applications is now hosted on the Eclipse platform. This move provides software development teams with all the advantages of Eclipse integration for building and integrating distributed applications using the RTI Data Distribution Service.

The Eclipse platform provides an infrastructure that gives software tools the ability to plug in and share common services. Fundamental services such as dynamic data-sharing between tools, source-code control and editing make it possible to employ common activities across a range of tools. Eclipse plug-ins also share a common look and feel, providing the experience of an integrated environment that enhances the productivity of a development team.

Eclipse also enables development teams to customize the environment with tools and layouts that focus on specific types of projects. This capability enables software developer teams using the RTI Developer Platform to easily integrate tools that complement that platform to further optimize their development processes, said the company.

With the RTI Developer Platform, RTI offers a complete tools solution for the development, debugging, analysis and optimization of distributed applications. This platform includes the RTI Analyzer, which is integrated into Eclipse. It provides a dynamic, object-based view of an active RTI system from a node and data-topic perspective.

The RTI Developer Platform also simplifies the challenge of developing and integrating complex, high-performance distributed systems, said the company. The suite targets a development environment based on the open-standard Data Distribution Service (DDS) for building large and distributed real-time applications. The integration with Eclipse means that teams can easily integrate custom development and debugging tools into their practices, or leverage one or more of the many third-party and open-source plug-ins available.

Pricing: Starts at $11,995 for three developers and includes one year of maintenance and support.
Availability: RTI Developer Platform is available immediately for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Sun Solaris hosts.
