DSP core is licensed for wireless applications

Chipnuts Technology has licensed LSI Logic's ZSP500 DSP core for use in wireless applications and other consumer electronics products. The choice was made due to the ZSP's balance of performance verses power, as well as the roadmap of software-compatible ZSP cores.

The ZSP500 core is a four-way superscalar, dual-MAC implementation of the ZSP G2 architecture. It's already homes in 2G, 2.5G and 3G wireless applications and networked voice appliances. Various standard products are also available for lower volume designs and prototype implementations. Third parties round out the offering with software tools, EDA modeling support, and application software. More information on LSI Logic is available at www.lsilogic.com.
