DSP handles voice-over-Wi-Fi in digital handsets


LSI Logic's DSP product division recently released the LSI403US digital signal processor (DSP) in a 7- by 7-mm chip package. The latest addition to the ZSP family of processor solutions, the LSI403US is a low-cost, low-power voice processor in an ultra-thin package that delivers the perfect mix of high performance and small footprint necessary in voice-over-WiFi (VoWiFi) applications such as cell phones, PDAs, and other handheld devices.

Based on the low-cost, low-power LSI403LC processor, the LSI403US features a 144-lead BGA package, dual TDM ports for audio ADC/DACs, and interfaces for additional wireless devices, such as WLAN and Bluetooth.
