DWDM SFP transceiver offers high dispersion tolerance value

Tokyo—Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. is offering a line of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers dubbed the SCP9FB8 series.

According to Sumitomo, the SCP9FB8 series devices offer a dispersion tolerance value of 3,200ps/nm compared with 2,400ps/nm of its previous-generation devices. The company attributes this boost to laser diodes that feature low chirp characteristics and optimized driving current.

The SCP9FB8 series is equipped with Variable Decision Threshold (VDT) function, which reshapes the received waveform by optimizing logical judgment threshold level using an I²C interface. The SCP9FB8 series is RoHS compliant.
