E2v chooses Cortus APS3 Core from CAST

NICE, France — E2v's Grenoble design center is to use the CAST, Inc. APS3 IP core as its embedded processing core for upcoming mixed-signal sensor and imaging system products.

E2V (Chelmsford, England) develops components and subsystems for sensors, electronic tubes, and semiconductor applications.

The CAST (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) APS3 is a 32-bit microprocessor IP core developed by CAST partner Cortus, SA (Montpellier, France). Designed for deeply embedded systems, it offers high performance in a small silicon footprint.

E2v’s group in Grenoble, France benchmarked the APS3 against competing 8- and 32-bit products, and found it offers the best fit for their demanding mixed-signal CMOS ASICs and ASSPs. E2V acquired French sensor and imaging specialists Atmel Grenoble SAS in 2006.
