Eastern England gets research support


Cranfield, UK — Businesses, universities and research organisations based in the East of England interested in European, and national funding initiatives relating to research and development are being encouraged to attend a launch event on 23 March.

Organised by Cranfield University, the event for REWARDS (Region Wide Access to R&D Support) will be at Newmarket Racecourse. The REWARDS project is co-financed by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and the European Union's European Social Fund (ESF) programme.

To benefit form the free service organisations must be based within the EEDA Region of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The service aims to provide information and support for regional businesses and researchers in respect of Framework 6 (FP6) and other European Union (EU) programmes and enable the region's Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and larger businesses to strengthen their position with regard to European and global market development. It will facilitate partnerships between companies in the East of England's and companies elsewhere in the EU in respect of FP6 and other research programmes.

The organisation work alongside regional innovation support providers such as Business Links, Innovation Relay Centres (IRC), universities, etc. in supporting innovation in the East of England and encourage interaction between the research base and business in collaboration with partners.

At the launch as well as a presentation on the R&D support service and from key support agencies there will be a chance for pre-arranged one-to-one sessions with the REWARDS Team.
