Electronics companies feature in Queen’s awards


LONDON — Several electronics firms have won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the annual accolade for business success. Amongst this year’s winning electronics companies are optical fiber manufacturer, Fibrecore Ltd (Southampton, Engalnd); Quantum Research Group Ltd (Hamble, England) ), a developer of touch-sensing technology for consumer products; and Enterprise Control Systems Ltd (Wappenham, England), supplier of secure digital video transmission equipment used by police and armed forces for air to ground video links (Enterprise Control Systems Ltd).

Other electronics winners include 4i2i Communications Ltd (Aberdeen, Scotland), a provider of hardware and software video and audio coding technologies; Metryx Ltd (Bristol, England), a semiconductor equipment supplier whose technology offers nanotechnology mass measurement techniques; CSR PLC (Cambridge, England), a provider of personal wireless technology whose portfolio covers Bluetooth, FM receivers and WiFi (IEEE802.11); Motorola Point to Point Fixed Wireless Solutions Group (Ashburton, England), Oxford Instruments Nanoanalysis (High Wycombe, England), a supplier of X-ray microanalysis systems; Rofin-Sinar UK Ltd (Kingston upon Hull, England), which designs and and manufacture sealed carbon dioxide lasers for marking applications and industrial processing; Snell & Willcox (Havant, England), a manufacturer of video processing solutions for the broadcast, production and post-production industries; and Tacktick Ltd (Emsworth, England), a provider of wireless electronics for the marine environment.

In total, 119 business awards were made this year – 71 for international trade, 40 for innovation and 8 for sustainable development.
