Electronics engineers to get recognition

LONDON — The IEE's fifth annual Achievement Awards will see up to eight medals presented in recognition of significant contributions to any discipline within the scope of the Institution.

Candidates have to be nominated by April 30, 2005.

The J. J. Thomson Medal will be awarded if a candidate has demonstrated outstanding work in the field of electronics theory, practice, development or manufacture. In addition, at least two medals will be presented to engineers aged less than 35 years and three manufacturing-based awards will be conferred

An additional three manufacturing-based awards will also be given out, including the IEE Sir Eric Mensforth International Gold Medal, The IEE Viscount Nuffield Silver Medal and The Tony Goldsmith Cup for an IEE member under 35-years-old.
