Embedded computers handle harsh industrial environments

Moxa Technologies, Inc. is shipping the ThinkCore W300 Series of embedded computers (W311, W321, and W341). Designed specifically for use in harsh industrial environments, the ThinkCore W300 embedded computers feature an 802.11a/b/g WLAN port, 1, 2, or 4 RS-232/422/485 serial ports, an Ethernet port, and an SD socket. In addition, the ThinkCore W341 includes two USB 2.0 ports and one relay output channel into a mini sized, rugged chassis. All three models use the MOXA ART ARM9 32-bit RISC processor.

Designed with a small package, versatile communication features, and a strong computing platform, the ThinkCore W300 embedded computers use existing wired or wireless networks to connect serial devices for demanding numerical computing, protocol conversion, and data processing tasks. They support 802.11a/b/g protocols, performing the data transmission and device monitoring at the locations that require wireless communication.

Data is transmitted transparently and with encryption for greater security. Users can build peer-to-peer, distributed wireless communication embedded systems to make traditional wired devices wireless, and provide higher mobility and more intelligence. The ThinkCore W300 solution is well suited for diverse M2M embedded applications.

The pre-installed Linux-based operating system provides an open software operating system for software program development. This means that software written for desktop PCs is easily ported to ThinkCore W300 by using a common compiler, so that you will not need to spend time modifying existing software code. The Linux's JFFS2 file system can log all file access data with time stamp to prevent the file system from crashing when the system is writing data to the file system and the power shuts down.
