emtrion starts series production of the new computer-on-module emCON-MX8M Mini. Numerous multimedia and high-speed interfaces, virtualization capability, integrated security functions combined with high computing power and low power consumption make this module particularly attractive.
The new emCON-MX8M Mini module with the heterogeneous multi-core processor i.MX 8M Mini from NXP is suitable for numerous embedded applications – especially in the fields of industrial IoT, multimedia streaming and machine learning. The implemented 14-LPC FinFET process technology makes the processor reliable and robust in industrial use in harsh environments.
The integrated i.MX 8M Mini processor is scalable and consists of up to 4 Arm -Cortex -A53 cores with up to 2 GHz clock rates and a 400 MHz Arm -Cortex -M4. Flexibly to your application, the CPU supports DDR3L, DDR4 and LPDDR4 memory. emtrion's emCON-MX8MM features a 16MB QSPI NOR flash memory, up to 64GB of eMMC NAND flash memory and up to 4GB of LPDDR4 SDRAM.
The emCON-MX8MM module with SPDIF and SAI interfaces, two LCD interfaces and the MIPI-CSI-2 interface, which is common in modern embedded vision systems, meets high performance requirements in terms of audio, video and voice processing. Integrated hardware acceleration for video and graphics supports 1080p video processing as well as 2D and 3D graphics. There is also an extensive selection of high-speed interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe and OTG available.
The emCON module with its compact size of 50×82 mm can be used for operation in the extended temperature range of -25 to 85 °C. emtrion guarantees a long-term availability of 15 years with the quality promise “Made in Germany”. For a direct start in your own application development, a Developerkit with Board Support Package for Linux (Debian and Yocto Sumo) is available. Optionally, the developer kit can be supplemented with a virtualization function (Jailhouse). emtrion also supports you in activating the integrated HAB Secure Boot.
