Enea opens Android competence center

LONDON — Enea is setting up an Android competence center in Lund, Sweden to provide software development services, as well as a variety of training programs for developers of mobile phones, netbooks and mobile internet devices (MIDs) who are considering using the emerging open source platform or are actively developing devices.

Enea says the center will building on the experience it has in delivering not only Android, but its own RTOS-based phone platforms based on OSE and OSEck, which powered 400 million mobile phones last year.

Gregory Singh, SVP Global Services at Enea said, “The large size of our Android-focused consulting team at Enea –resund, places us among the strongest Android services players in northern Europe. We intend to further enhance our resources to help customers deliver Android-based handsets and mobile devices that exceed the functionality, performance and reliability expectations of the demanding consumer market.”

Enea's Android Competence Center will focus on the platform and framework level of Android by combining its experience in end-to-end handset software design from the baseband to application layer, including integration and testing.

The company's professional services teams have experience in Android internals and integration, file systems, OSE RTOS, device drivers, operator needs, security and tool development.

The training curriculum offered by Enea Android Competence Center targets handset, MID and platform engineers who are migrating to Android. The platform training package is divided into modules to enable tailor-made learning based on the background of the audience. Developers with strong competence in embedded software and device drivers may need to learn more about Linux and building software for Android while an experienced Linux developer may need an introduction to Android specifics and knowledge of mobile platforms.

The training can range from a simple overview to a five day complete Android seminar.
