LONDON The Drives and Controls Exhibition, MACH, the manufacturing engineering exhibition; Subcon, the engineering subcontracting exhibition; AirTech, the compressed air event, and Electrex the long-standing electrical show are to be held alongside each other next May at the NEC in Birmingham.
Drives and Controls, AirTech and Electrex all being organised by DFA Media, while MACH is being organised by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) and Subcon is being organised by Centaur Exhibitions. All of the events are being held at the National Exhibition Centre from 16 to 18 May 2006, with MACH running for two extra days from 15-19 May.
The organisers say that previous attempts to deliver a combined show have largely faltered – possibly because it is important to have discrete shows focussed very specifically on their own core audiences. The co-location of the various shows at the NEC next May means that each will retain its identity and distinct coverage, while presenting the visitor with a much broader range of things to see and do.
Ian Atkinson, of DFA Media, said, “It has been a complicated process to establish the logistics of hosting such a variety of large and important exhibitions at one venue and at the same time of year. But, we have enjoyed an incredible level of cooperation between the organisers and the NEC and all of us share a common belief in the concept of staging such an ambitious single event.”
