LONDON The Young Engineers organisation, which recently merged with the Young Electronic Designer Awards (YEDA) Trust, and is supported by Government, industry and professional institutions, has appointed Captain Stuart Ellins as chief executive. This is a new post created to drive growth of the Club network and engage more schools and industry in the nationwide programme of activities.
Young Engineers’ mission is to inspire and engage young people in all aspects of engineering and so help Britain to address the growing skills shortage in this vital sector.
Ellins is a marine engineer and a fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, will takes up the role in March, having recently served as a Captain in the Royal Navy on the staff of the Second Sea Lord at Portsmouth as Director, Manpower Capability Development.
Dave Rowley, National Director of Young Engineers for the last four years, has left the organisation to join the Engineering Employers Federation, Western, focusing on education programmes with engineering and aerospace companies.
