If you want to present a paper or teach a class at the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston, May 6-7, 2015, the deadline for proposals is Nov. 21, 2014, the end of this week.
If you have not done so already, click here for full details and submission guidelines.
The Technical Program Committee is looking for speakers with deep technical and practical expertise in embedded systems hardware, software, and firmware, as well as practitioners who have developed strategies for reducing time, cost, and complexity in the embedded development process.
Proposals that will be considered include, but are not limited to, the following topics: embedded systems design, connected devices and the Internet of Things, embedded software design, software design, languages and code quality; hardware design, I/O and interfacing; and prototyping including development boards, development tool chains, rapid prototyping and the role of open source.
There are various formats for such speaker presentations: (1) technical sessions which reveal new ways of thinking about embedded systems design; (2) postmortem talks which cover the details of the design and development of a specific embedded systems application, including trade-offs and the choices made; and, (3) under the hood product breakdowns, which look at the specific of a product designxitoduct investigates what’s under the hood of a product design, discussing in detail the component parts, chip/system functionality, and potentially software choices in the design.
Don't wait until the last minute to start on your proposal. Calendar time is a deceptive metric by which to measure the time you have in which to prepare, given all the other things, personal and professional, that get in the way.
And do not feel as if the work you have done is wasted as there are other venues to which you can submit your proposal, such as one of the other ESC shows that will be held during the coming year:
ESC Silicon Valley: July 20-22, 2015 – Santa Clara Convention Center
ESC Minneapolis: November 4-5, 2015 – Minneapolis Convention Center
ESC India: July 8-10, 2015 – Nimhans Convention Center, Bangalore, India.
And while it is no replacement for the person-to-person connection of a live presentation at a technical conference before an audience of like-minded embedded systems developers, another alternative you might want to consider is Embedded.com, where I am always willing to discuss your proposal for publication in the site, either by email or on the phone.
